“Tagged People: 52”
As a creative, I understand the need for acknowledgment, appreciation, and relevance. However, I believe some of the steps taken are ineffective and yield a false promise of hope. I noticed my contemporaries would “cold call” high-profile pages, tagging a slew of accounts, hoping the pages will perpetuate their work as if a confirmation of talent. Usually, the tags are buried below one another, a possible indication that the artist is ashamed of this prevalent tactic. So I raised the question, “Do the Visual Arts Need to Be Seen?”. I think the method compromises the integrity of the work; an act equivalent to printing out hundreds of flyers and posting them around your city, hoping someone will see it. But if that energy was directed towards refining your art, would it be more successful? I don’t know. What do you think?
